Together, we can create opportunity,
strengthen families, and move Missouri forward.
Tedi Rowland is a wife, mom, grandmother, neighbor, and longtime Independence resident. Before going back to work, Tedi spent years at home raising her four kids, supporting their dreams and building a better life for her family. She faced the same challenges that working families still face every day: rising healthcare costs, higher living costs, and expensive childcare costs. Tedi also knows what it means to speak up for a child with a disability. She has pushed for inclusion, dignity, and real support when the system was not built to support families like hers.
Tedi was born and raised in our area and chose to build a life in Independence with her husband, Rory. They have four kids – Eliot, Josh, Michaela, and J.P. – along with three grandchildren, Evaline, Charlotte, and Truman, who all remind her every day that the decisions made in Jefferson City have a real impact on our families.
The cost of groceries, gas, housing, and healthcare keeps climbing — and Missouri families are feeling it every single day. Tedi supports practical solutions that actually help: childcare subsidies and tax credits, housing assistance for first-time buyers, and removing the sales tax on food and medicine.
Tedi believes every Missouri child deserves a quality education — no matter in what zip code they grow up. Our state is nearly $2 billion behind on school funding, and that shortfall hits our kids and community directly: fewer teachers, older buses, and classrooms missing the basics. Tedi is committed to fully funding Missouri’s foundation formula so every student can succeed.
Tedi understands the strength that is needed to care for a loved one with a disability or mental illness. She believes in a comprehensive system for providing care, treatment, and support for those living with a disability or facing mental health issues. This would cut through the red tape and build a more coordinated, family-centered approach to disabilities and mental health services.
